Camping Recipe: Easy & Delicious BBQ

Easy Barbeque Sandwiches

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
  • 1-1/2 pounds pork tenderloin, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
  • 3 medium green peppers, chopped
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 12 sandwich buns
  • Sandwich toppings of your choice

You’ll also need:

  • Slow cooker (5 quarts or bigger)
  • Slow cooker liners for easy clean up
  • Cutting board & knife

Directions:

  • Place liner in slow cooker. This helps with easy clean up!
  • Combine first six ingredients directly in the lined slow cooker.
  • Cut green peppers, onions, beef, and pork, and add to the mixture, stirring to combine.
  • Cover and cook on low heat approximately 6 hours.  
  • Shred meat with two forks, serving on buns with toppings of your choice.

Make-ahead prep tips:

  • In a gallon size food storage bag, place meats, onions, peppers, and all dry seasonings. Freeze. Place frozen mixture directly into the slow cooker, adding the liquid sauces and tomato paste the day you make the BBQ.
